Stubborn Twig Author to visit - March 29, 2009
Oregon Author Lauren Kessler will be visiting the Baker County Public Library to read and reflect from her award-winning book, STUBBORN TWIG, chosen by the Oregon Library Association to be the book all Oregonians read to celebrate the state’s sesquicentennial.

Kessler is expected to open her presentation with a short film that sketches the narrative arc of Stubborn Twig — from Masuo Yasui’s trip on a stuffed ocean liner across the Pacific, to the raising of his nine children, to his success as an orchardist in the valley, to his internment as a suspected spy during World War II. Along the way, Kessler will present character portraits of his family, and in doing so, explore the idea of what it means to be American.

Admission is free. This event is open to the public.
