Baker Opera House.
Built ca. 1900. Located on northeast corner of Main & Washington. Under the name Clarick Theatre, it burned down on November 12, 1937.
The postcard is addressed to Mrs. D. B. Saunders, Keating, Oregon. The addressee was Delila Wait before her marriage. She arrived in Keating Valley on a wagon train in 1866. Her diary of her Oregon Trail trip is in the Baker County Library.
On the back of the postcard: "Dear sister received your card. I sent you a letter from Frank. I supose you have got it by this time. I wondered how you would get along this (one word?) cold wether. Hope you will be comforable. We are all well. Love to all, (signature ?)" |
