| Description |
Baker City Iron Works. (Summarized.) Located on Auburn near the railroad track. Does general foundry and machine work employing 19 men. The shop is 40 x 40 and has two stories, the foundry is 40 x 60. Some recent work: three Dodge rock crushers, two of which weigh 2 ¼ tons, one for the Baker City Sampling Works and the other for the kaolin works at Huntington, 4 tons of mining machinery for La Bellevue Mine, 6 tons of lintels or iron beams for the Ison Building on Washington St. Proprietors are French and McLynn, the former is in the office and the latter runs the shop having learned his trade in the Navy shipyards in Philadelphia. Previously he was foreman of the Colorado Iron Works of Denver for 8 years and another 8 years at the Willamette Iron Works of Portland. Source: p. 13, Souvenir Edition.
