| Description |
Baker Opera House stage under construction, ca. 1899.
Located on northeast corner of Main & Church. Under the name Clarick Theatre, it burned down on November 12, 1937.
Notice that there are three pieces of scenery backdrops showing. The one at the top is an expansive cobblestone street scene. Another is a small piece in the upper left of the photo. Not enough of it is showing to tell what it depicts.
Written on the back of the photo: "The stage of our new Opera House. The painter is getting the scenery ready. The fellow in front is a cigar maker that works for us." Underneath are the initials "J. F. L." |
