| Description |
Cabin in Griffin Gulch near Auburn. The photo is of a sketch of the cabin in which Henry Griffin, who in October 1861 found gold in a gulch that was later named for him, and three others spent the winter.
The box at bottom left reads: "First house built in Baker County by David Littlefield, Wm. Stafford, Henry Griffin & G. W. Schriver, on Griffin's Gulch in 1861."
The box at bottom right reads: "Sketched by I. Hiatt in the year 1893."
There are two images attached to this record. One is in color showing the sepia tone of the original print. The other image is in black and white.
