Description Cabin in Griffin Gulch near Auburn. The photo is of a sketch of the cabin in which Henry Griffin, who in October 1861 found gold in a gulch that was later named for him, and three others spent the winter.

The box at bottom left reads: "First house built in Baker County by David Littlefield, Wm. Stafford, Henry Griffin & G. W. Schriver, on Griffin's Gulch in 1861."

The box at bottom right reads: "Sketched by I. Hiatt in the year 1893."
