Ashley McClay
Growing up on a dairy farm in Kuna, Idaho, Ashley spent the majority of her youth participating in county fairs as a 4-H member and helping her family raise cattle, pigs and turkeys. She earned her BA in Criminal Justice Administration in 2005 from Boise State University.
In 2008, Ashley made the move to eastern Oregon. After spending 7 years advocating for victims as the Director of the Grant County District Attorney’s Office Victim Assistance Program, she packed her bags and settled in Baker City. For the last 10 years, Ashley has been employed with the Baker County Sheriff’s Office as an Executive Assistant to the Sheriff and Public Information Officer.
Ashley is a member of the Baker City Lions Club and Baker County Safe Communities Coalition and also sits on the Baker City Parks & Recreation board. When not at the office, you can find Ashley spending quality time with her partner, Ryan, and two dogs, Stella and Roman, boating in Hells Canyon or visiting her mom in Idaho.
From a young age, Ashley’s mom instilled in her the importance of reading and encouraged her to read anything she could get her hands on. She is passionate about reading and sharing her love of books and is honored to serve on the BCLD board.
